Mapping extant data and research on disaster communication and warning systems in Europe

Working Group 1 focuses on advancing knowledge and practice on warning systems and procedures in Europe. The group brings together researchers and practitioners to collect, curate and compare available data and to advance research on how warning systems work across Europe.

By connecting theory with real-world practices in disaster communication, WG1 aims to build a shared understanding of how warning systems can be more effective. This work helps key stakeholders develop policies and decisions that are grounded in solid, evidence-based knowledge.

Main tasks include:

  • 1. Conducting a comparative meta-analysis of studies on warning communication across Europe.
  • 2. Identifying effective actions and best practices in disaster communication and warning systems.
